Justine Davies - Soprano
Justine started singing in Jazz and Funk bands, but realised that opera was her destiny!
She then studied singing at The Blackheath Conservatoire of Music, and later at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She also won the opportunity to attend Master classes with Laura Sarti and Jonathan Hinden at Glyndebourne.
Her Opera debut was singing Kate Pinkerton in Madam Butterfly for the London Opera Players; further engagements then followed for Kentish Opera, Opera del Mar, Cameo Opera, Commedia Productions and Mantissa Opera Other roles include: Violetta in La Traviata, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Musetta in La Boheme, Norina in Don Pasquale, Despina and Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte, Clorinda in La Cenorentola, Gretel in Hansel & Gretel, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Giannetta in L’elisir d’Amore, Frasquita and Michaela in Carmen, Magda in La Rondine, Papagena in The Magic Flute, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Cathleen in Riders to the Sea and The Plaintiff in Trial by Jury. She will be performing Clorinda and Despina for London Opera Productions 2009 tours.
Justine also regularly performs in concert and oratorio. Concerts include The Christmas Concert at Chichester Cathedral along with actors: Geraldine James, Rupert Penrys Jones & Robert Hardy. Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man and at the Mozart bi-centenary concert where she appeared with Clarinettist Emma Johnson. She will be singing the Faure Requiem and Gounod St Cecilia mass, Shepherd on the Rock by Schubert & John Rutters Requiem in 2009.
All these performances have taken Justine to such diverse venues as: The Barbican Main Hall, The Hackney Empire, Lincolns Inn Field, The Minack Theatre, Hever Castle, Brownsea Island, and The Isles of Scilly.
