Kevin Loe - Tenor
Kevin Loe was born in Zimbabwe. While training as a Biochemist he started to study singing. Arriving in Britain he carried on his passion for performing at the same time as taking a Masters in Information Technology. The call of the stage, though, proved too much and he retrained yet again as an opera singer.
He quickly became the Borough Market Tenor and was asked to sing by Jamie Oliver at one of his parties, and has continued to sing at private and corporate events ever since – and of course is very much in demand at weddings.
His operatic roles include the title role in Faust by Gounod, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore, Romeo Coates in English Eccentrics by Malcolm Williamson Pollione in Bellini’s Norma, The Mayor in Albert Herring, Adolphe in The Opera Rehearsal by Albert Lortzing, Alfred in Die Fledermaus and Alfredo in La Traviata.
His lunchtime concerts at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon met with much critical acclaim and He took on the lead in a newly written opera, South of the River a Baylis project at English National Opera.
Kevin’s recent oratorio performances have included Handel’s Messiah, Petite Messe Solenelle, Stabat Mater (Rossini), Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Hummel’s E-Flat Mass, Haydn’s Creation and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
