ROBERT CARLIN - Tenor

Robert joined the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus before embarking on a solo career. Since then, he has appeared with various companies, touring to places as far a field as Malaysia, Indonesia and South Africa, and has entertained the Royal Families of Jordan and Japan. Major roles include Alfredo (Traviata), Nemorino (L’Elisir d’Amore), Don Jose (Carmen), Rodolfo (Bohème), Lensky (Eugene Onegin) and Peter Grimes.  Robert has appeared with Opera North, ENO, and the Amsterdam Opera.  For three years he took part in the Salzburg Festival, touring with the Berlin Philharmonic to Japan, Berlin and around Italy.  He has appeared in Musicals by Kurt Weill, Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Gershwins and Cole Porter, and has a one-man show My Heart’s Delight, about the life and career of the great Austrian tenor, Richard Tauber.  He is in demand as an oratorio singer, singing Verdi’s Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall and Beethoven’s 9th and Mozart’s Requiem at the Barbican. He made his Royal Festival Hall debut last year in Stravinsky’s Les Noces with Crouch End Festival Chorus. Other recent concerts have included Dream of Gerontius in Cardiff, the Grande Messe des Morts and The Damnation of Faust by Berlioz, and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis.
