Russell has performed many of the concerts for THE FOOD OF LOVE including:  A FEAST of OPERA, ROMANCE in SONG, LIFE UPON THE WICKED STAGE and CHRISTMAS IS Y COMING! He is also one of the Rons in THE FOOD OF LOVE’S Singing Security Men THE FIRM.

Russell’s performances are always energetic and theatrical making him very popular with the audiences. Russell is equally happy singing grand opera and much lighter material.

Russell started singing as a chorister in St. George’s Church, Kidderminster. He then moved to London to study Voice at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he attained a BMus & MMus. In 2012 he is also a FLCM (Fellow of the London College of Music) and is now in great demand up and down the country.

His Opera credits include Tamino in The Magic Flute, the title role in Albert Herring, Pedrillo in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Don Basillio in The Marriage of Figaro, Don José in Carmen, Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville and the Second Brother in the world premier of Laurence Roman’s Isabella and the Pot of Basil at Covent Garden & Buxton.  Russell also loves the music of Gilbert & Sullivan and has done all, bar four, of the tenor roles including:  Marco in The Gondoliers, Fred’ric in The Pirates of Penzance, Alexis in The Sorcerer and Nanki-Poo in The Mikado.  He is a regular principal with The Grims Dyke Opera Company based at the home of WS Gilbert.

As a recitalist Russell has also performed of Sullivan songs at the Arts Centre on Jersey and, most recently, a Housman programme for the Worcester Festival. With his Young Proms colleagues, he has raised over £90,000 for numerous charities.

Russell also teaches for the Worcestershire Music Service in Evesham, Worcester and Bromsgrove, leading three all-male singing groups. Apart from his performing work Russell is a lover of real ale, a fully qualified safari park tour guide, a keen walker, a  circuit training fanatic and has recently got married.
